motet
Music composed by Thomas Tallis
Libretto/text: Sarum rite, respond at Matins after Trinity.
Date of composition: Unknown
Opus/Catalog number: Tudor Church Music, v. VI
Spem in alium nunquam habui, praeter in te, Deus Israel: qui irasceris, et
propitius eris. Et omnia peccata hominum in tribulatione dimittis, Domine
Deus, Creator caeli et terrae, respice humilitatem nostram.
[Trans.: I have never hoped in any other than you, God of Israel: who will
be angry, and favourable. And who dismisses all the sin of people in
hardship. Lord God, Creator of heaven and earth, look on our contrition.]
